UP police staff furloughs canceled ahead of election

Uttar Pradesh: Leave for all police personnel in Uttar Pradesh has been rescinded by state authorities ahead of the upcoming assembly by-votes and city civic body elections.
According to a directive from the Headquarters of the State Additional Director General (Law and Order), Prashant Kumar to all District Police Chiefs issued on Saturday, leave for police personnel is canceled with immediate effect until the completion of the electoral process for the upcoming Lok Sabha/Vidhan Sabha/City Polls by-election. Leave can be sanctioned by the officers concerned in particular cases, specifies the ordinance.

The by-election for the seats of Mainpuri Lok Sabha and Khatauli Assembly of Uttar Pradesh is scheduled for December 5.
Elections for 763 urban state local bodies, 17 municipalities, 200 Nagar Palika Parishads and 546 Nagar panchayats are also scheduled to be held in December.
