One of Akshay Kumar’s most anticipated films, Rakshabandhan has already hit theaters amid the Boycott trend. The film begins with a slow opening collection. According to the box office collection report, “The film had opened on the Raksha Bandhan festival with a collection of ₹8.2 crore but dropped to around ₹6 crore the following day.”
The report further states that Raksha Bandhan received a big boost in the first day due to Raksha Bandhan, but is eyeing a decline in the region of 30% and expected to collect somewhere in the net range of 5.50 to 6 crore the second day.
A trade analyst also tweeted “#RakshaBandhan has a disappointing start to day 1… Ground circuitry works better [good occupancy in evening shows], but metros extremely weak… Trade needs to expand/jump from Friday to Sunday to improve outlook… Thu ₹ 8.20 cr. #India business.
History of Rakshabandhan
The film revolves around Akshay Kumar and his relationship with his four sisters. It focuses on her efforts to marry off her sisters and addresses issues such as dowry and body shaming. It stars Bhumi Pednekar as Akshay’s love interest, while Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna and Smrithi Srikanth play his sisters.
Raksha Bandhan is Akshay’s third release of the year after Bachchhan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj. It however opened lower than both of these films, at ₹8.20 crore. Talking about Rakshabandhan is written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. The film is produced by Color Yellow Productions, Zee Studios and Alka Hiranandani in association with Cape Of Good Films.
