Over 50 articles on teaching English to feature


A two-day regional conference on “Modern Trends in English Teaching Methodology” kicked off at Sargodha University on Monday.

According to a press release issued by the university, the conference is organized by the Department of English, Sargodha University, Pakistan TESOL [Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages] and the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the United States Embassy in Pakistan.

More than 50 research papers on modern trends in English teaching will be presented at the conference.

In research papers, the use of digital materials in English language teaching methods, the use of the English language for educational purposes, the teaching of the English language through literature, the teaching of intercultural communication, teaching for the 21st century, preparing language teaching programs, preparing the curriculum and materials for teaching English, evaluating student performance and other important topics , including challenges encountered in applied linguistics, would be discussed.

During the opening ceremony, Vice-Chancellor of Sargodha University, Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas, participated as a special guest while Pak TESOL Project Manager, Dr. Muhammad Kamal Khan, former Vice Chancellor of Open University Allama Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof. Ghulam Abbas Gondal, Head of Pak TESOL Dr. Azhar Parvez and Head of Department of English, Dr. Zareena Qasim, were also present.
