The singer’s next album is set to be released on April 29 this year. Lambert took to her Instagram account to share the update with her fans and followers.
She wrote: “The new album ‘Palomino’ will be released on April 29. This record takes you on a journey through the songs. I hope you are all ready to travel with us wandering spirits and meet some cool characters. with great stories. ‘Strange’ is out now. Listen and pre-order/pre-record/pre-add at the link in my bio.”
The 38-year-old singer linked the announcement to the release of new track “Strange”, as well as an accompanying video.
Speaking about the new song “Strange,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that it was written with Hemby and Dick on his farm in 2020, it seems.
“We were talking about all the weirdness that was going on in the world at the time,” she said.
She added, “So we kind of wrote it to tackle some heavy stuff, but mostly we want people to take away from this song to be lighter on their feet and take a breather and play a song and make a song. dancing and maybe flying somewhere fun, just kind of an escape from a reality that’s not too good.”
The 15-track album includes a cover of Mick Jagger’s “Wandering Spirit,” as well as a collaboration with the B-52s titled “Music City Queen.” The lyrical content will explore “the world and its inhabitants, in search of beauty and adventure all around”.
“Making this record was one of the most fun and creative experiences of my career,” the singer said in a statement.
“Luke Dick, Natalie Hemby and I went to my farm in Tennessee in 2020 and started writing songs. which set us on the path to creating something with a bit of a theme. Since we couldn’t travel at the time, we decided to take a journey through songs. I hope you are all ready to travel with us, wandering spirits and meet cool characters with great stories,” she added.
The Grammy-winning singer released collaborative album ‘The Marfa Tapes’ with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram last year, but ‘Palomino’ is her first solo album since 2019’s ‘Wildcard’.
Besides a new album, the singer will also be on tour. Lambert’s The Bandwagon tour, headlining with Little Big Town, kicks off in May.
