Cameron Carter-Vickers struggles for Celtic transfer as Newcastle lead English Premier League chasing pack

Celtic could face a fight to land Cameron Carter-Vickers, with Newcastle United apparently interested.

The Hoops are desperate to extend the Tottenham loanee’s stay at Glasgow, with talks ongoing over a permanent move.

But The Toon could well compete with them for his signature, according to the American site CBI.

They showed interest in loaning the defender out last summer, ahead of his move to Celtic Park.

But new boss Eddie Howe is keen to revive that, the report says.

The Magpies aren’t the only club said to be in the hunt, with newly-promoted Southampton and Fulham also linked.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have an option to buy under the Carter-Vickers loan deal, believed to be around £6.5million.

But it remains to be seen whether interest from the English Premier League could turn his head.

The United States international has received rave reviews for his performances here – named in the PFA Team of the Year.

He also recently earned a recall to Team USA.

The 24-year-old played for Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall when he was in charge at Bournemouth.
